The Fold Launch Kickstarter To Fund New Album, Moving Past

Former Tooth & Nail Records rock band The Fold are getting ready to record their fourth full-length studio album, but they need your help! The band released two albums with their previous label, This Too Shall Pass (2006) and Secrets Keep You Sick (2007), before releasing Dear Future, Come Get Me on their own in 2009. It's been three years and it's time for their new project, intriguingly titled Moving Past.

On their Kickstarter campaign page for the album, the band has posted a video announcing this project (which contains snippets of new material), a series of options for giving to the campaign, as well as the following text announcement:

We're rallying to raise 15K in 30 days to record our NEW FULL-LENGTH ALBUM, "Moving Past"

Hello friends, we write to you from cloud 9, where we've been shaping the music for our new full-length album. The songs are written, and we're ready to close up shop to head into the studio, and bring these songs to life. We're raising funds here to support the expensive costs of recording an album the RIGHT way – we'd love your support in making this dream a reality.

For our previous full-length, we did EVERYTHING independently – paying for producers, design, mass production, making music videos, touring, hanging posters for shows, and everything else in between. For our new album, "Moving Past" we're asking for the support of YOU – our friends, families, and fans – to help make it happen! Our reasoning is simple: we want these songs FLOURISH, to THRIVE, and to make YOU a part of the process – to make this album something bigger than anything we could have ever dreamed of. Together, we know that we can do it.

We had a zany time coming up with these prizes. From pizza parties to tattoo parlors, we really tried to put ourselves in your shoes and ask what would make US want to get involved with another artist's campaign. BUT! If you think of something you'd like to see added to the list, let us know! This is less of a "transaction" and more of a conversation. Tell us what you're thinking, and how you plan to help spread the word! We want this to be a collaborative process from start to finish.

We Are Proud To Call You Partner!
It's the wild wild west in the music business right now, but we know one thing for sure: our fans are worth it! For us, each song, youtube, lyric or email we write to you is an inspired moment to connect with you guys. Through our years, we've never questioned that our fans would be there for us as we navigate the twists and turns - it's all the other factors that muddy the waters. We've written down each and every one of our goals, and they are all based around the friendships we've made throughout the years. Without that, we'd have lost the spark years ago.

We believe that closing the gap between bands and fans is the future of music. This is why we are so excited about our Kickstarter campaign, every dollar raised past $15,000 is a chance for us to dream bigger – to do the things that we could not while at the mercy of a record label. For us, it's not about finger pointing, but it IS about lessons learned, and smart stewardship with each dollar we raise. Your belief in this band is not something we take lightly, it is in fact something that we thank God for, every day.

As you know, it's all or nothing when you're running a Kickstarter campaign. That means if we raise $14,999 and fall short of the goal, we don't get a dime. So we need your help! We need you to become a backer at any level you can manage, but just as importantly, we need you to tell everyone you know about what we're doing here! In the end, being proud of the final we product we've created together is all we really need in order to call this one of the crowning achievements of our careers. In the words of Ray Charles, "I never wanted to be famous. I only wanted to be great." Fame isn't what motivates us, this has always been about dreaming, building, creating – we hope that spirit comes across in all that we do.

This project means freedom for us. It means that in the end, we will be proud each decision we make, we will be proud of everything we do. And we'll have you to thank for all of it.

This is a part of a bigger story... When you see our new album in the iTunes store or at your local record shop, when you hear a song from "Moving Past" on the radio, you'll know you played an integral part in the process.
